History will remember Pol Pot, but not for any reasons that many would see him as a great man. No, Pol Pot will live in infamy because of his actions that caused the deaths of 2 million people that lived in Cambodia, an area southwest of Vietnam.
Many outside the neighboring areas did not know of the heinous acts occurring in Cambodia until after the genocide had been stopped and Pol Pot was brought down from his position as the dictator/leader.

Many still wanted to learn what led Pol Pot to massacring the citizens under his rule, and so they ventured out and learned of his motives. Pol Pot had envisioned turning Cambodia into a nationalized and centralized farming society overnight that followed the Chinese Communist Agricultural Model. To this end, he was willing to sacrifice over 1/5 of the Cambodian population to reach his goal.
All those who would oppose his rule or laws were met with cruel and inhuman torturing and ultimately death. The disabled or those unfit to work on the farms were also killed without a hint of remorse.
Those that lived through and learned of this tragedy will never forget those that lost their lives and the experiences many faced that was due to a text book definition madman, who's name was Pol Pot.
